it’s with a lot of excitement that archipel’s boss himself releases a vinyl extract of his album’s favorite tracks. while the album which consist of 2 cds, we thought some of the works would fit well in the hands of collectors who would push the tunes in their quirky sets. the opening track, titled “big trouble in little cave” is one that could haunt a techno party in berlin where in the breakdown, things just go out of control and while you think you can’t take anymore, the music takes you back to earth. tests have proven to be used with care, reports indicate some people reacted with a lot of noise. “dérape totale” is perhaps a cross of four tet releasing on raster noton. awkward combo indeed but the strange structure on top of weirdly arranged percussion is set to catch your attention and draw you into an inner journey. with the chance of having manchester’s dncn join him for vocals, pheek goes with his first interpretation of what a pheekie-pop tune could be: fun, intriguing and catchy! >follow the flow< is the closing track and is one build tension with surprising exploding percussion clashes on top of melodic waves.

wir betrachten uns eine griechische spezialität : zunächst plattennadeln vom staub befreien, ohrschmalz aus den ohren zupfen. das vinyl von beiden seiten mit salz und pfeffer einreiben. mit limettensaft beträufeln. die hälfte der kräuter und die lorbeerblätter über die schultern werfen. die haare gleichzeitig mit holzspießchen zustecken. die rechte gesichtshälfte auf ein geöltes backblech legen. danach alles mit Öl beträufeln. knoblauchzwiebel putzen, halbieren, mit auf das blech legen. im heißen ofen (e-herd 200°c/gas stufe 3) etwa 25 minuten backen. ca. 5 minuten vor ende der backzeit übrige kräuter über die haare streuen. anschliessend vinyl herausnehmen und mit grobem salz bestreuen. mit rosmarin, thymian und limette garnieren. fertig ist die schmackhafteste brise aller zeiten. i-kie & nikola gala sowie fog & arara bieten ein gourmetschmaus an, der sich gebacken hat. vier tracks, die auf jeden teller gehören.

roman iv is roman flügel. surely, you dont need us to sing you the praise of his various styles. under his roman iv moniker, he always pursued his more contemplative dance floor side. la paloma is exactly that kind of perpetual and lulling marathon jam that recollects his testament tracks (check playhouse and ladomat for further listening) and needs to be followed all the way through. having said that, sa caleta looks for a more immediate hit. with a rigid punch and some greasy layers, you get romans take on the current or recurrent slow motion disco craze. straightened out and cut right to the chase. finally, lucy rolls over again, starts where la paloma ended and makes its way up to a subliminal hookline. for all you digi kids: look for the bonus beat mix tool supreme called 123 bpm. roman iv president

12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.
